SupraFusion Days: The program’s community comes together to discuss scientific advances
Two days to bring the program community together
From May 31 to June 2, 2026, the PEPR SupraFusion community gathered at the Domaine du Château Laval in Gréoux-les-Bains for the SupraFusion Days 2026. The event brought together researchers, engineers, doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and industry partners to discuss the scientific advances made in the program’s projects.
These two days provided a key opportunityfor discussion and coordination among all the projects in the program. The teams presented their recent findings and future plans through presentations and poster sessions, fostering a collective and cross-disciplinary scientific dynamic.
Scientific and Collaborative Highlights
The program was marked by:
- progress reports on the various SupraFusion PEPR projects and team presentations
- promoting research through poster sessions
- a roundtable discussion on industrial prospects and opportunities for collaboration in the fields of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) and fusion
- a session dedicated to recruitment biases in scientific careers, led by Isabelle Regner, Vice President for Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination at Aix-Marseille University
- opportunities for dialogue that help build the program’s national community
Technical tours of the heart of the fusion facilities
Participants also had the opportunity to tour the ITER and WEST facilities, as well as some of the associated laboratories. The tour of WEST and the laboratories was organized by CEA IRFM, providing an opportunity to explore key infrastructure for research on magnetic confinement fusion and the activities carried out at the institute.
A community committed to the technologies of tomorrow
These events helped strengthen interactions among the various stakeholders in the SupraFusion program and solidify collaborations between academic researchers, research organizations, and industrial partners.
They confirm the collective momentum surrounding the development of high-critical-temperature superconductors and their strategic role in future fusion technologies.
First SupraFusion Steering Committee Meeting: A Landmark Launch for the Program
Last week, the very first steering committee (COPIL) meeting for the SupraFusion program was held, marking a key milestone in the structuring and monitoring of the initiatives undertaken.
This COPIL, the program’s governing body, brought together the various partners to review the progress of ongoing projects and discuss the next steps. These discussions helped align priorities and strengthen the shared vision held by all stakeholders involved.
This first steering committee meeting thus marks an important milestone in the rollout of SupraFusion, laying the groundwork for a lasting and structured collaboration.

A look back at the SupraFusion 2026 Winter School
At the end of January, the SupraFusion 2026 Winter School was held, a key event for scientific transmission, exchange and sharing.
This scientific and collaborative event brought together 67 participants: PhD students, post-docs, researchers, engineers and industrialists to discuss superconducting technologies, with a focus on magnetic fusion.
On the program:
✔️ Scientific presentations encouraging the exchange of knowledge and the opening up of new avenues of research.
✔️ Poster sessions where each participant was able to share his or her work and obtain valuable feedback.
✔️ Interdisciplinary discussions, generating ideas and future collaborations.
✔️ Strong interaction between academic research and industry, illustrating the importance of collaborations to drive innovation forward.
✔️ Convivial moments strengthening links between participants.
Participants also had the opportunity to discover state-of-the-art infrastructures during a visit to the LNCMI CNRS laboratories and theInstitut Néel CNRS of CNRS Grenoble.
Launch of the SupraFusion Call for Projects
The SupraFusion Call for Projects has officially been launched. This call is part of the SupraFusion program and aims to support ambitious and innovative research projects related to the scientific and technological challenges of fusion and superconducting technologies.
Objectives of the Call for Proposals
The SupraFusion Call for Projects aims to:

support transformative and collaborative research projects,

to foster the emergence of new scientific and technological approaches,
-
strengthen synergies among research stakeholders involved in the SupraFusion program's thematic areas.
Proposed projects must be fully aligned with the scientific focus areas and priorities defined by the program.
Who is eligible to apply?
This call for proposals is open to eligible research teams, in accordance with the rules for participation specified by the ANR. The exact eligibility requirements, procedures for forming consortia, and submission guidelines are detailed in the official text of the call.
