SupraFusion at the MT29 international conference - July 2025
A first international visibility for the program
From July 1 to 6, 2025, several members of the SupraFusion research program took part in this major international meeting of superconducting magnet technologies and applications.
A key event for:
🔹Presenting our scientific posters and the first areas explored by the program.
🔹 Exchanging views with researchers, engineers and industrialists from all over the world.
🔹 And above all, marking the program’s first international speaking engagement, with a presentation of the project by our program coordinator Walid ABDEL MAKSOUD.
This presence at MT29 consolidates SupraFusion’s position in the global ecosystem of nuclear fusion and superconducting technologies. A great step towards promoting France’s scientific ambitions on the international stage 🌍

A look back at the launch of the SupraFusion research program
A look back at the launch of the SupraFusion program: a day of innovation and scientific cooperation.
On March 31, 2025, CEA and CNRS officially launched SupraFusion, an ambitious research program supported by France 2030, with funding of 50 million euros over 7 years. The aim is to develop high-temperature superconductors, essential materials for the future offusion energy and other strategic technologies.
The day was divided into two parts. In the morning, a
SupraFusion ‘s mission is to develop the technological building blocks needed to industrialize these materials, demonstrate their reliability on a large scale, and explore their applications in the fusion, healthcare and low-carbon mobility sectors.
This launch marks the starting point of a structuring program, with several actions already underway: the launch of five targeted projects and two calls for projects, with a clear commitment to federating a scientific community around this technology of the future.
Presentation of the SupraFusion program at the 14th AFF-CCS General Conference in Aussois.
From October 15 to 18, 2024, the AFF-CCS organized its 14th general symposium in Aussois, bringing together 140 participants.
This was an opportunity to present the SupraFusion research program to the French community. Discussions on putting together a program took place during the previous edition in October 2021.
The ” Cryogenics and Superconductivity ” commission of theAssociation Française du Froid (AFF-CCS) is a flexible structure open to all French public and private organizations working in the field of cryogenics and superconductivity.
AFF-CCS is a forum for exchanges between researchers and industrialists, with the aim of fostering better mutual understanding and even collaboration. It strengthens ties and structures the community. It also plays a training role through the schools it organizes.
